Evaluation and Optimization of Low Impact Development Designs for Sustainable Stormwater Management in a Changing Climate

The increasing intensity and frequency of extreme storms pose a growing challenge to stormwater management in highly urbanized areas. Without an adequate appropriate system, the associated floods will continue cause significant damage infrastructure loss life. Low Impact Development (LID) has become emerging alternative traditional system for management. This study evaluates optimizes applications different combinations LIDs minimize flows from catchment under past future storm conditions. Storm Water Management Model (SWMM), forced by observed downscaled precipitation Coupled Intercomparison Project phase 6 (CMIP6), was used simulate runoff apply Renton City, WA. final results show that performance reducing total volume varies with types utilized.
